The Apostles Creed

The Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried, He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty, from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen

The Apostles Creed, sometimes called the Symbol of the Apostles, is our statement of our Christian belief. It is a fundamental corner stone of our belief in Jesus Christ and His church on earth. During the celebration of the mass we other this creed as a communion with the Apostles who follow Christ and who helped His church spread the word of God.

The story of the beginnings of the Apostles Creed describes how the Apostles, with inspiration from the Holy Spirit created this creed to signify their covenant with Jesus and His church and as a way for all true followers to profess their faith as well.
